The official reviews for the 2023 7DRL challenge are out: Life Cyan did pretty well, coming in joint 5th place based on average score, out of 182 completed games. Thanks to everyone who played and gave feedback!

The next update (v1.2) is now out.

Improvements:

  • There is now a settings menu where you can rebind the keyboard controls, change the music and sound FX volumes, and enable an “instant animations” mode. Settings are remembered between sessions!
  • There is now a “tactical view” option, showing exactly which tiles are “seen”, “noticed” or “hidden” from enemy view.
  • Hovering over a tile with the mouse now shows a tooltip with useful information about what’s there.
  • Added a loading animation and progress bar while downloading the game assets.
  • Slightly shorter input block during animations.
  • Improved animations for guard KO and waking up.
  • Added colours and a more readable font for some UI text.
  • Added a speedrun timer for in-mission time and total run time on the post-mission debrief screen.
  • Added and changed a few banters and portraits.
  • Added a subtle striped animation on enemy vision cones.
  • Sound effect for guards waking up from KO.
  • Improved Data Terminal sprites.
  • Improved a few room prefabs.
  • Action buttons now show a “clock” ticking down when the action is on cooldown.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a crash for some Firefox users on Linux.
  • Fixed sprites not rendering on Chrome MacOS.
  • Fixed music fade-out, and music now plays correctly after the first mission on Firefox.
  • Fixed a performance issue which caused frame drops on moves.
  • Peeking again after you have already peeked no longer revokes the “peeking” status.
  • Aira can no longer attack guards diagonally.
  • Fixed guards being able to shoot without overwatching first, if they have just woken up from KO.
  • Fixed an edge case in the LOS check.
  • Corrected speeds for some sprite animations.
  • Random banters with multiple variants now have a consistent probability of playing.
